Petroleum energy supply Japan FY 2012-2021
In fiscal year 2021, the petroleum energy supply amounted to approximately 6.72 thousand petajoules. Figures peaked in fiscal 2012, at almost 10.3 thousand petajoules. The continuous decrease in the number since fiscal 2012 was a result of the attempt of the government to substitute liquefied natural gas (LNG) power and renewable energy for petroleum.
