Gender pay gap based in Belgium 2021, by business activity
In 2021, Belgian women earned an hourly wage that is, on average, five percent lower than the hourly pay of men. Although gender equality has progressed overall in Belgium, some activity sectors are still far behind. For instance, women in Belgium faced a gender pay gap of 11.2 percent in the field of water supply, sewage, waste management and remediation activities in 2021. The sector of information and communication was also a field where gender equality has yet to be overcome. On the other hand, women who worked in the sector of mining and quarrying in Belgium earned more than men in 2021. Nonetheless, women were still mostly earning less than their colleagues.
