In the first quarter of 2023, the average leverage ratio of the EU banking sector was 5.6 percent on a transitional, and 5.5 percent on a fully-phased basis. Iceland reported the highest Tier 1 leverage ratios, with 12.6 percent. Iceland was followed by Croatia, Estonia, Bulgaria, and Slovenia, which all had leverage ratios above nine percent.
