Italian networks breaking Facebook rules 2019, by number of followers
As of May 2019, the non-profit organization Avaaz conducted an investigation which enabled the multi-billion dollar company Facebook to take down 23 Italian Facebook pages due to their inauthentic behavior. The pages taken down were spreading hate contents, misleading information, and far-right material. Most of them had a political content, such as "Vogliamo il movimento 5 stelle al governo" and "Lega Salvini Sulmona", which had almost 130 thousand and 24 thousand followers, respectively. Although some of the Facebook pages closed didn't look political, they were spreading far-right political information, including "I valori della vita" ("The values of life"), which was followed by 1.5 million Facebook users.
