Opinion on an extraordinary commission against racism in Italy 2019
At the end of October 2019, the Italian Senate voted in favor of the establishment of a special committee to combat racial hate. The motion passed with 151 votes in favor, 98 abstainers and no vote against. The Italian parties Lega, Forza Italia, and Fratelli d' Italia decided to abstain. The Commission was proposed by the Senator Liliana Segre, Holocaust survivor. Thus, the committee was also given the name of "Segre Commission".
