Japan: preferred genres of creative activities by gender 2022

According to a survey conducted in Japan in January 2023, around 3.7 percent of male and 2.5 percent of female respondents stated that they have participated in regional traditional entertainment performances or festivals during the past 12 months. This was the cultural activity with the highest participation rate, followed by taking music, ballet, dancing, or art lessons.
