This statistic depicts the percentage of U.S. suicides with known or unknown mental health conditions as of 2015, by the suicide event/history of the deceased. According to the data, in total, 34.5 percent of suicide victims left a note. Furthermore, 40.8 percent of suicide victims with a known mental illness had a history of suicidal ideation, compared to 23 percent of those without a known mental illness.
