Newly built homes: house price index and annual change France 2000-2023, per quarter
The house price index for newly built homes in Mainland France declined in 2023, after peaking in the fourth quarter of 2022. In the third quarter of 2023, the index value amounted to 130 index points, an increase of 0.3 percent from the same period in 2022. The highest increase in home prices was observed in the fourth quarter of 2005 when prices rose by almost 13 percent. Meanwhile, prices for second-hand homes increased at a slightly faster rate.
The index measures the development of prices for newly built homes, with 2015 chosen as a base year. An index value of 130 means that home prices rose by 30 percent since 2015.
