Family discussion of organ donations in U.S. adults 1993-2012
This survey displays the percentage of U.S. adults that have discussed their wishes for organ donation for transplantation with their family in 1993, 2005, and 2012. In 2005, 70.1 percent of adults have discussed their wish to donate with their family. Organ donation can be given through both a deceased and living donor if blood and oxygen are flowing through the organs until the time of recovery to ensure viability. There are over 120,000 people in the country waiting for an organ transplant.
