Established business ownership rate Asia 2023, by country
In 2023, around 20 percent of the adult population in South Korea was involved in owning and running an established business. By comparison, just over four percent of the population in China had the same level of engagement that year. Established business ownership rate refers to the percentage of 18-64 population who are currently owner-manager of an established business, i.e., owning and managing a running business that has paid salaries, wages, or any other payments to the owners for more than 42 months.
