Monthly department store retail sales value change in Great Britain 2016-2023
This statistic shows the percentage change in the amount spent (sales value) in non-specialized non-food stores monthly in Great Britain from November 2016 to January 2023. With a -25.3 percent decrease in April 2020, the value of sales in department and similar stores had dropped substantially in April and May 2020, during coronavirus lockdown. With the easing of the coronavirus measures, values increased starting from June 2020 and leveled off in October 2020 with an increase of 0.4 percent. However, sales saw another significant decrease in January 2021 when the UK gone under another coronavirus lockdown. After the coronavirus containment measures have been partially lifted, sales experienced an unprecedented increase in April 2021, with 38.1 percent. As of January 2023, department store sales value increased by six and a half percent compared to the same month a year earlier.
