Share of population relying on formal financial services in Nigeria 2008-2023
In 2023, the total share of adults in Nigeria who used formal financial services was 64 percent. That year, 52 percent of the population had banks as their financial service provider, while 12 percent used other formal financial services. Overall, the share of people in the country who relied on formal financial services increased steadily within the examined period.
