As of April 3, 2024, results from the 2024 Republican presidential primaries showed Donald Trump having received 1,861 delegates, over 600 more than the required number for the nomination. To receive the Republican presidential nomination, a candidate requires 1,215 delegates, which trump received shortly after Super Tuesday making the Republican primary season one of the shortest in recent U.S. history.
Although ultimately determined by the rules of their respective political parties and state requirements, the number of delegates a Republican candidate receives is usually proportional to their share of votes in each state's primary or caucus.
