A poll conducted in July 2022 found that 76 percent of Democrats consider the federal protection of people's constitutional rights more important than the ability of individual states to make their own laws. This is contrasted with 39 percent of Republican voters, who were more likely (48 percent) to say that it is more important for individual states to have the ability to make their own laws without federal interference.
