Leading startups in Africa 2021, by funding value
In 2021, the Nigerian startup OPay raised funding in a total of 400 million U.S. dollars, the highest early-stage funding value secured in Africa. Other two fintech companies followed: Chipper, based in East Africa, raised 250 million U.S. dollars, while Senegal's Wave secured 200 million U.S. dollars. The same funding value was raised by Andela, a Nigerian startup operating in the recruitment industry.
