The carbon intensity of Greece's power sector has experienced an overall decreasing trend since the beginning of the century. In 2022, Greece's power sector emissions amounted to nearly 344 grams of carbon dioxide per kilowatt-hour (gCO₂/KWh) of electricity generated, the lowest level since the year 2000. This figure represented a decline of roughly 52 percent compared with 2001, when the power sector carbon intensity in the Mediterranean country reached a century-peak of more than 718 gCO₂/KWh.
