The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic was expected to affect Ghana's current account in 2020 and 2021. Under a worst-case scenario, where the pandemic persisted through December 2020, the current account deficit for the same year was projected to reach minus 4.1 percent of the GDP. Comparatively, the account outlook before coronavirus was at minus 4 percent of the GDP for the year 2020 and at minus 4.4 percent for 2021. Furthermore, the account balance deficit was revised at minus 3.6 percent of GDP for 2020 and at minus 3.2 of GDP for 2021, considering the impact of the virus under a baseline scenario.
