Sales volume of grapes in markets from South Africa 2000-2019
The sales volume of grapes in the markets from South Africa increased to 21,565 metric tons in 2018/19, up from 19,023 metric tons in the previous year. Since 2000, the sales followed an overall decreasing trend, with some fluctuation. A major peak was reached in 2002/03 at roughly 30 thousand metric tons. The declining trend may be related to the fact that South African grapes are export-oriented leading, to a reduction in sales in local markets.
