Cyber crimes motivated by revenge in India 2021, by leading state
In 2021, the northeastern state of Assam in India had the highest number of cyber crimes motivated by feelings of personal revenge when compared to the rest of the country. There were approximately 802 cases registered with the Assamese authorities that year. The state of Telangana came second with 485 registered cases. Overall the country recorded approximately 1,724 cases of various cyber crimes with revenge as motive that year. These crimes came under the purview of numerous sections of the Indian Penal Code under Information Technology Act (Cyber crimes).
