Rural phones as a share of overall phones in India 2020 by state
As of November 2020, the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh had the highest share of rural phones to overall phones in the state at about 67 percent. On the other hand, the southern state of Tamil Nadu had the lowest share at 31 percent. The Indian Telegraph (Amendment) Act 2006 and the Universal Service Support Policy of 2002 had helped in providing telecom services in rural and remote areas of the country.
