Share of police officer strength in India by state 2012-2016
The average strength of police officers between 2012 and 2016 in India was the highest in the north-eastern state of Nagaland at around 94 percent of the sanctioned capacity. On the other hand, Uttar Pradesh had the lowest capacity at just over 52 percent. Overall, the police force in India worked at just about 77 percent of its required capacity during the measured time.
